About Us

Vision

A Singapore where LGBTQ people lead healthy, whole and fulfilling lives.

Mission

We work towards our vision by:

  1. Creating resources to help the LGBTQ community in Singapore navigate legal and institutional challenges.

  2. Conducting research to understand the issues and challenges that LGBTQ people in Singapore face and raising awareness among the public about the same.

  3. Collaborating with various stakeholders to promote inclusion of LGBTQ people in Singapore society.

Milestones

2015: An idea takes shape. Indulekshmi Rajeswari pulled together a group of volunteer lawyers to begin writing Singapore’s first legal guidebook on LGBTQ issues. Due to time and resource constraints, we decided that the guidebook would only focus on issues that LGBTQ couples and families in Singapore faced.

2017: Book published! After a successful crowdfunding campaign, Same But Different: A Legal Guidebook for LGBT Couples & Families in Singapore was published. As of August 2024, we distributed 2,000 physical copies of the book, and the ebook has been downloaded 42,500 times.

2021: Pulse check. 4 years after the book was published, we conducted a survey to find out what were the issues that LGBTQ couples faced. Our survey on Legal Arrangements for LGBT Couples & Families in Singapore revealed that:

  • LGBTQ couples are not equipped to have serious discussions about legal arrangements.

  • 78% of LGBTQ couples who have had serious discussions about legal arrangements seriously considered moving out of SG for legal protections.

2024: Rebrand and revamp! After the repeal of Section 377A and many other changes to the law, we decided that it was time to update the content in the legal guidebook. This year, we unveiled our new corporate brand identity, expanded our legal resources to cover the common issues that all LGBTQ people face, and introduced legal improv comedy event format to better engage with and educate our audience.
